Ordered my benchmark bruschetta(home made)& marinara pizza.house wine.
bread was stale for bruschetta.ate a little,wine ok.
pizza arrived,seen better in pizza hut. frozen thick base, canned & small mussels, covered with heart attack cheese. had to dig through to see if had seafood.
bland,awful.
plenty of punters so maybe the other pastas etc ok , but give the pizza a wide berth. owner should check out a real italian thin base pizza sometime.
1st time in port macquarie from overseas, no connection with anyone re this restaurant, but disappointed.

Just had their pizza for take-away. it's one of the worst i've ever tasted! and for $20-$22 per pizza, total rip-off. very tasteless, the seafood tasted funny, and the crust was hard. pizza hut is 10x better! very disappointed.

Looked at all the other reviews and seem to recognise some names of opposition among them. leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but not here. been regulars for many years and find the quality and quantity of meals, presentation, staff and ambience up there with the top in town. have invited many friends and family to dine with us, now they are regulars also. don't know what some people expect at times. always willing to pay for quality. go la roma!!

My family and i come here often. we are always welcomed by friendly waitresses and the menu is so broad that we each time we eat here we can order something new everytime. our meals are always fresh cooked, and we can tell from the lovely taste. because everything is so fresh i feel the food is worth the wait. i would definately recommand this restaurant to my family and friends! well done guys at la roma, i'll always be back! thanks for the wonderfull experience everytime.

1/ we had to wait for 1 hour and 20 mins for the mains to arrive.
2/ in addition, the restaurant was not full.
3/ pasta was tasteless and bland.
4/ pizza base was not well cooked.
never will go back there and will make sure to inform all my friends to boycott that place.

I would have to rate this restaurant the worst i have ever been to. the pasta sauces my husband and i had were both watery and tasteless and the antipasto platter shared for our entree was made up of gherkins and pickles straight out of bottles from the supermarket. dreadfully overpriced for a byo restaurant serving disgusting food.

My family and i were travelling from the gold coast back home to sydney. we stopped the night in port macquarie. we had just come from a week at the gold coast, where we ate out every night. every single meal experience had, surprisingly, been a good one.
the motel owner spent time recommending places to take my family to eat in port macquarie. unfortunately, i ignored the advice and took the family to la roma.
walking into la roma, the frosty and curt manner of the waitress should have been a warning to walk out. however, we stayed and ordered 3 pizzas. a bit later, we were presented with 3 large but unappetizing pizzas. the "vegetarian pizza" ("we call it vegetable pizza", i was corrected by the waitress) had green beans, big lumps of cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and sweet corn, as well as some of the more conventional ingredients. now, i like my vegetables, but this was disgusting. all of the pizzas came on what looked and tasted like frozen supermarket-style bases, and some of those were undercooked.
when we complained (and we rarely complain in restaurants), rather than getting an apology, we were admonished for not liking the food, as if didn't know what we were talking about! she point-blank refused to take the food back or talk to the chef.
all pizzas went back largely uneaten. we were given no discount. we paid the bill in full ( $64 - 3 very poor pizzas, and $4 corkage!).
when i mentioned "la roma" as where we dined to the motel owners, their reaction was " la roma? that would be top of our list of where not to go! i don't know how that place is still open!".

My visit was one i will always remember. since retiring my husband and i have been travelling around australia and we have never experienced a better nor varied menu anywhere the food made it our favourite restaurant anywhere and the service was exceptional. we were met by a friendly waitress who while the restaurant was full made us feel we were the only people there. keep up the good work we will definitely be back.

We had takeaway from here last night and it was horrible. the pasta sauce was watery and taste-less. i had the marinara and it was obviously a mix of fresh seafood and the frozen mix you get with the minature mussels and prawns etc. the waitress was cold from the moment we walked - wish we had walked straight out again

This is the worst meal we have ever had. there were carrots in the bolognaise sauce and i am pretty sure it was frozen and reheated. the dishes were way overpriced and the service was far from warm and inviting. it is surprising that this restaurant is still operating. i wish we had takeaway next door.

The menu was way overpriced for the food they served.
the spaghetti bolognese was an off brown looking colour and did not taste, nor smell fresh. out of all the 5 meals, this would have had to of been the worst. the lady who had only eaten a mouth full or two of this meal, was the sickest of us all. the other pastas ordered were much along the same lines. i have never tasted food this poorly before. i would like to make it very clear that that night, none of us felt right and 3 out of 5 of us feel very ill

I had heard a lot about la roma, so i thought i would give it a go. i was seriously disappointed. the food was substandard in most cases (the marinara was great, but the bolognese was shocking), the quantity sizes for take away were misleading, it was far too expensive and quite frankly, i was not impressed. my order consisted of 4 servings of garlic bread, 1 large lasagne, 1 small lasagne, 1 marinara and 1 large tortellini bolognese. total for this? $78. that was just plain wrong if you ask me. i rang them to talk about the situation, service and cost only to be fobbed off.
