I had fish and chips and it was soo good! definitely the best one i've had in australia. i really enjoyed it and i will be coming back shortly for more! the fish was fresh and the chips were just the way i like them!

The fish and chips really are the best at the bay. we've been visiting port stephens for many years and bubs has always proven to be great food and great value for money. worth the trip from sydney every time!!!

 Using imported fish

I went to bubs for the "best seafood" winner and ordered the 49 dollar seafood meal, the fish was soft and mushy and the scallops were over cooked if not recooked, i took the fish back and asked what type of fish was it? the cook stated imported bassa fillet whats wrong? i said it states the trawlers pull and and unload their catch in the back door of bubs on the sign and the menu, but it is imported frozen fish, it is a rip off the say local and use imported i will never go there again

We ate here yesterday and loved the fresh seafood, wonderful ambience and friendly staff. the fish was so fresh and the calamari and coconut prawns were amazing!! i couldn't recommend this restaurant more.

I made 3 mistakes on this day.
firstly, i fell for the " voted best blah blah" on the advertising billboard on the way in to nelsons bay
secondly, i didn't walk out when the woman taking orders decided to turn her back on me and have a coversation with a junior staff member between taking the order prior to me and taking my order.
thirdly, i paid $50 for the worst fish i have ever tasted. it can only be described as tastless mush! i would have been better off with frozen fish fingers.

New cook???? had the platter, no taste at all, salt is a necessary component in the batter to bring out the flavour of the fish, prawn and calamari., a platter of tasteless!!
excessive use of salt is of course a no no. i spoke to several other customers who agreed and one said they had been coming for 6 weeks and the quality and flavour had dropped considerably of late
