This has got to be the worst cafe in the best location. the staff are arrogant & stupid at the same time. i brought 2 x calamari & chips plus drinks which came to near $40!! the calamari was frozen elastic bands in bread crumbs & i waited 30min. never again.

My partner and i went to kiama on the weekend and called into barnacles for some lunch.we bought the blue grenadier fish n chips meals wow what a great tasting fish,nicely cooked and fresh.well done barnacles would recommend your fish to anyone .thanx

i have been going to barnacles takeaway for some time now. i always buy their blue grenadier fish the best fish i have ever tasted.they make lovely fresh salads daily seafood being the best of course. the staff there are so friendly they call me by name not a number.i have taken all my friends there and they thoroughly enjoyed the food as well. so to the barnacles crew job well done......

Went there with family ,got there 5 min to 11' walked up to restaurant,one woman inside who was taking order from a couple shouted towards us, hey we are not open, in the rudest manner i have ever experienced. i asked her politely, what time r u open, shouted back 11. other people were walking up to the place to , she doesn't shout at others. made me feel that it why was my family targeted, is it because we r asian ? eventhough i am a eurasian. we left so dissapointed as we were there during our honeymoon 14 years ago , sure made me never to return there again.

Been to this take away shop a few times.salads are old, servis slow, fish very ordinary !mostly frozen products straight from their packaging to fryer!

An hour of my life i will never get back

I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to this take away shop. i can see i'm not the only person here who had to wait an hour for a simple order of fish and chips. i mean seriously, how difficult is it to deep fry fish and chips? deep frying isn't even really considered cooking. its almost as quick as microwaving. therefore i cannot understand why an hour later, i was still standing in their damp and smelly shop waiting for my order. secondly, the customer service was appalling! abb, i agree with you that this site isn't to dis someones appearance but i do have to dis the lady *cough cough* at the cash register that served me. she was rude and abrupt and rolled her eyes at anyone who dared to ask how much longer their order was taking. she even had to nerve to get into a yelling match with a customer who simply wanted her money back - which i think was a far enough request if you had to wait an hour for your fish and chips. so take my word for it, don?t waste an hour of your day for soggy fish and chips. i am at least grateful that my fish wasn?t off and smelly like the previous reviewers before me.

I can see this site as being helpful to consumers to vent there priase and/or criticism.though to me it looses some credibility ,when it is used to rate things other than the 5 criteria they are given.small minded people,who pass judgement on a person they dont even know,leave you wondering whether the rest of thier criticism is valid.should a person be unable to work in a public place because of their appearance.how sad that some people feel they are so flawless that they can rate people on this site.

This place is utterly, utterly terrible.
having already wasted an hour of my life waiting for my lunch, i don't want to waste any more time elaborating on exactly all the ways this place sucked. so, in short, if you are considering eating from here, my message is this - save yourself the effort and just drop a $20 note down the drain and eat out of a bin. it will be quicker and more pleasant.
oh, one other thing: the lady behind the counter was one of the most hideous creatures i have ever had the misfortune of laying eyes upon. her withered and pickled features (presumably from years of alcohol abuse) were like nothing i had seen before. she looked like a significantly more masculine and scary looking jon english.
i won't be back.

After waiting fifty minutes for overpriced food only out fish had a discusting smell to have my wife abused and threaten by restaurans owner of the estabilishment no need to say we wont be back, it spoiled our whole day

We had to wait a hour for food the fish was off it smelled so bad, on taking fish back for refund i was abused n intimidated by the big fat alcohol breath smelling owner
