Easily the best japanese food in newcastle

My partner and i went there on a friday night and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. the staff were attentive and helpful and the food was just amazing. they have a good menu with quite a variety of flavours. it really is an authentic japanese restaurant with a modern-day style. i've dined at other japanese restaurants in newcastle but this was far and away the best quality. highly recommended.

Worst birthday restaurant decision

Went there for dinner to celebrate my birthday. would not recommend it. food is average. i ordered some sake and after saying that i would like it served hot it was brought to me cold, upon telling the waiter it took him 25minutes to heat it up and by heat i meant him putting it in the microwave as from our table we could clearly see into the kitchen. our entres took longer than a table to ordered about 20minutes after us and when we received our entres they were first given to the wrong table and then the waitress picked it up and then gave it to us. service is hopeless as it is understaffed. nagisa is just a japanese restaurant in a flashy location with an expensive price for food. i would recommend the japanese place in charlestown square shops which has much better food quality.

Attempted to go today for lunch as my friend and i really enjoy the food here. on previous visits the service has been poor to say the least but today was to the point of ridiculous.
the front door sign says open 11.30am-2.30pm, a three hour lunch shift - what a dream job for hospitality!
but it wasn't enough for the two waitstaff on today.
at 11.30am the door was closed and the two girls were having something to eat around the bar so we went to have a drink next door to give them 20 mins to open.
at 11.50am we were ignored standing outside for 5 mins and on opening the door and asking if they were open we were told "yeah in 5 mins we're just having lunch"
i work in hospitality.
1. eat lunch before or after your shift.
2. lose the attitude.
3. don't ignore customers when you have them..
we went past on the way back from lunch elsewhere and there was lucky to be 6 people inside at 1pm.
i feel sorry for the owners.
